Meijer Inc. is recalling approximately 7,600 units of Katie Brown 12-piece tea light candle sets due to a fire hazard. The recalled candles were sold in five different colors and scents: vanilla, spruce, snappy spice, sunny tuscany, and sweet love. The model numbers 50181MKB, 50182MKB, 50183MKB, 50184MKB, and 50185MKB are printed on the bottom of the tea light holders. The products were manufactured in India and distributed by Wholesale Merchandisers, Inc.
The clear plastic candle holders can ignite, which poses a serious burn and fire hazard to consumers. Meijer has received one report of the resin cup catching fire and melting. No injuries or property damage have been reported.
The tea light candle sets were sold exclusively at Meijer stores in Michigan, Ohio, Kentucky, Illinois, and Indiana from October 2010 through March 2011 for about $8. Consumers should stop using the tea light candles immediately and return all sets to any Meijer store for a full refund.
