Full Speed Ahead Crank Sets Recalled Due to Crash Hazard

Full Speed Ahead is recalling approximately 9,300 BB30 Gossamer crank sets that were installed as original equipment on numerous makes of bicycles, including Bianchi, Cannondale, Felt, Fuji, Litespeed, Raleigh, and Scattante. The recalled crank arms are either painted black with "Gossamer" printed in white or white with "Gossamer" printed in black. The affected non-drive crank arms have serial numbers beginning with 10B, 10C, or 10D, located on the backside of the arm near the pedal threads. MegaExo model Gossamer cranksets and Gossamer BB30 cranksets with three drive gears are not involved in this recall.

The recall is due to a crash hazard. If the fixing bolt on the non-drive crank arm is over-tightened, the bolt shoulder can crack or break. If this occurs, the non-drive arm can fall off the bicycle, causing the rider to crash and suffer injuries. Full Speed Ahead has received 11 reports of incidents, including two cases where injuries were reported.

Consumers should immediately stop using bicycles equipped with the recalled crank arm sets and return the bicycle to the dealer. The dealer will install a new non-drive crank arm free of charge.
