Plain-English summary
Valco Baby, of Brooklyn, N.Y., is recalling about 12,000 Tri Mode Single and Twin Jogging Strollers. The recall involves the optional grab bar on these strollers, which can allow an infant's body to pass through the opening between the grab bar and the seat bottom. This can result in the child becoming entrapped at the neck, creating a strangulation hazard, particularly when the child is not secured by the safety harness.
The recalled strollers were sold at juvenile product stores and websites, including Amazon, between November 2007 and March 2010 for between $480 and $700. The strollers were manufactured in China. "Valco Baby" is printed on the headrest and footboard padding, and model numbers are located on a white sticker on the left side of the brake bar. Affected model numbers include RUN6140 through RUN6147, RUN7710, RUN7711, TRI8800 through TRI8803, TRI8890, TRI9103 through TRI9106, and TRI1033 through TRI1035.
No injuries have been reported. Consumers should immediately remove the grab bar from the stroller and contact Valco Baby to receive a free replacement grab bar. For additional information, consumers can contact Valco Baby at (800) 610-7850 between 10 a.m. and 5 p.m. ET, visit www.valcobaby.com, or email [email protected].
