Graco Recalls Quattro and MetroLite Strollers Due to Entrapment Risk

Graco Children's Products Inc. is recalling approximately 2 million Quattro Tour and MetroLite strollers and travel systems. The recall involves Quattro models manufactured prior to November 2006 and MetroLite models manufactured prior to July 2007. These products were sold nationwide between November 2000 and December 2007 at retailers including Walmart, Target, and Sears for prices ranging from $90 to $250.
The recall is due to a risk of entrapment and strangulation. An infant can pass through the opening between the stroller tray and the seat bottom, but their head and neck can become trapped by the tray. CPSC and Graco have received four reports of infant strangulations, five reports of infants becoming entrapped resulting in cuts and bruises, and one report of an infant having difficulty breathing.
Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled strollers and contact Graco for a free repair kit. The strollers can continue to be used as a "travel system" with an infant car seat, as the entrapment hazard is not present in that configuration. Model numbers are printed on a label at the lower portion of the rear frame. Note that Quattro and MetroLite strollers ending with the number 3 are not affected.
