The recall involves all Civia Hyland bicycles sold with original equipment carbon fiber forks and all Civia Carbon forks sold as aftermarket products. The forks are black and have the word "Civia" forged into the fork dropout.

The recalled forks can crack or break, posing a fall hazard to consumers. Civia Cycles has received two reports of forks cracking and one report of a fork breaking, which resulted in an abrasion on the face and bruised ribs.

The affected products were sold at specialty bicycle retailers nationwide from April 2008 through February 2010. Civia Hyland complete bicycles were sold for between $1,675 and $3,500, and Civia Carbon forks were sold for about $195. Consumers should immediately stop riding these bicycles with the recalled forks and contact an authorized Civia Cycles dealer for a free replacement fork. All known users have been contacted.
