Plain-English summary
Playmates Toys is recalling approximately 252,000 Tiny Tink and Friends Children's Toy Jewelry Sets. The recall involves specific charms sold with these sets that are attached to cords using a metal ring and cylinder. The cylindrical metal connector on these charms can contain levels of total lead in excess of 300 ppm, which is prohibited under federal law. Charms with plastic tabs instead of metal rings and cylinders are not included in this recall.
The affected jewelry sets were sold in a variety of styles, including Tinker Bell's Lil' Tinker Bracelet, Rosetta's Rosebud Key Chain, and Silvermist's Water Lily Necklace. These items were sold at retailers nationwide from November 2008 through November 2009 for between $6 and $8. The products were manufactured in China.
No injuries have been reported in connection with this recall. Consumers should immediately take the charm and cord away from children and discard the items. They should then contact Playmates Toys for a replacement charm accessory.
