What this means for you
Real risk of harm even if no illness or injury has been reported yet. Stop using the product and follow the agency's guidance.
Our severity reasoning: The recall involves a risk-of-harm product (lead exposure) where injury has not yet been reported, which aligns with the High severity criteria in the rubric.
Plain-English summary
Things Remembered, Inc. is recalling specific silver heart bracelets and sweet charm necklaces intended for children. The recall involves approximately 6,700 bracelets and 3,300 necklaces sold in the United States, as well as 300 bracelets and 100 necklaces sold in Canada. The products were sold at Things Remembered stores nationwide and online from February 2015 through June 2016 for about $25 each.
The recall is being issued because the clear surface coating on the jewelry contains lead in excess of the allowable limit. Lead is toxic if ingested by young children and can cause adverse health issues. The recalled bracelets are 6-inch, silver-plated items with 10 silver hearts, circle links, a lobster claw clasp, and one silver heart-shaped charm. The necklaces are gold-plated on a 13-inch box chain with a 2-inch extender, a lobster claw closure, and three charms: a pink ice cream cone, a pink crystal cupcake, and a gold-plated tag with "SWEET" engraved.
No injuries have been reported in connection with these products. Consumers should immediately take the recalled jewelry away from children and contact Things Remembered for a full refund, including shipping charges, or a replacement gift of equal value. Customers can reach the company toll-free at 866-902-4438 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. ET Monday through Friday, by email at [email protected], or online at www.thingsremembered.com.
