Zippo Manufacturing Company is recalling approximately 17,500 Slatkin & Co. candle lighters due to a burn hazard. The recalled lighters have date codes G09 or H09 embossed on the black adjuster knob and are finished in high-polish chrome or white with a chrome nozzle. They measure 6.5 inches long and 1 inch wide and use refillable butane fuel.
The lighters can produce an excessive flame when adjusted to the maximum flame setting, which poses a burn hazard to consumers. No injuries have been reported in connection with this recall.
The lighters were sold at Bath & Body Works and White Barn Candle stores nationwide and online in November 2009 for about $10. Consumers should immediately stop using the product and contact Zippo to return the black adjuster knob and receive a free replacement Zippo candle lighter.
