These log splitters were manufactured between November 2008 and October 2009 and sold at retailers including Home Depot, Lowe's, Menards, Sears, Walmart, hardware stores, and independent dealers for between $1,000 and $2,300.

The recall is due to a defect where the control handle could fail to automatically return to the neutral position and fail to stop the splitting wedge from moving forward. This malfunction poses a risk of amputation to consumers' hands and fingers. No injuries have been reported in connection with this recall.
