Plain-English summary
Sycamore SCS is recalling about 1,500 Sycamore Pro gas generators, including models APEX 3, APEX 7, APEX 6, EGS 3.2, EGS 4.8, and EGS 7. The recall was initiated because a plastic sediment cup attached to the bottom of the fuel valve can crack during shipping and handling. This defect can cause fuel leakage or spillage, which poses a fire hazard to consumers.
The affected generators were sold between May 2008 and October 2008 at various dealers and stores in Indiana, Kentucky, Louisiana, Oregon, Texas, and Washington for between $940 and $2,340. Sycamore SCS has received nine reports of generators leaking, but no injuries or property damage have been reported.
Consumers should stop using the recalled generators immediately and contact Sycamore SCS for a free replacement sediment cup. All known consumers have been notified. For additional information, consumers can contact Sycamore SCS at (800) 801-2051 between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. ET, Monday through Friday, or visit the company's website at www.sycamorepro.com.
