Plain-English summary
Teknion LLC is recalling approximately 60,000 Contessa office chairs manufactured by Okamura Corp. of Japan. The recall involves all Contessa chairs shipped prior to June 30, 2008. The chairs were sold through authorized Teknion dealers nationwide from January 2004 through June 2008 for between $1,470 and $1,625.
The bolts that attach the seat bottom to the chair frame can loosen and separate, posing a fall hazard to consumers. Okamura has received two reports of the chair's seat separating from the frame, but no injuries have been reported.
Consumers should inspect the chair by checking the four bolts that attach the seat bottom to the chair frame. If any of the four bolts is loose or missing, consumers should stop using the chair immediately and contact a Teknion dealer for a free repair. For more information, consumers can contact Teknion toll-free at (866) 943-8550 between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. ET Monday through Friday or email [email protected].
