The recall is being issued because the bicycle stem can crack, which may cause the rider to lose control and fall, posing a risk of serious injury. Nirve Sports has received two reports of cracked stems, both of which occurred during the assembly of the bicycle. No injuries have been reported.

The bicycles were sold nationwide through Nirve Sports and authorized dealers from December 2008 through April 2009 for about $600. Consumers should immediately stop riding the bicycles and return them to the place of purchase for a free repair.
