The recalled units are electric with a stainless steel exterior and were sold exclusively through Williams-Sonoma stores, catalog, and website nationwide from March 2008 through January 2009 for about $200. The specific units involved have a model/ref number of #WD700462 and 4-digit manufacture date codes ending in "08," which are located on a white label on the bottom of the waffle maker.

The recall is due to a hazard where wiring inside the waffle maker can be damaged and contact the metal body, posing a shock or fire hazard to consumers. All-Clad has received 20 reports of the waffle makers emitting sparks, but no injuries have been reported.
