Plain-English summary
Fisher Controls International (FCI) is recalling approximately 142,000 Model R622H first-stage LP gas regulators. The affected units were manufactured between June 2006 and January 2008 and installed on LP-gas supply systems in homes and small commercial buildings. The recall covers specific type numbers: R622H-BGJ, R622H-DGJ, R622H-HGJ, R622H-JGJ, R622H-BGK, R622H-DGK, R622H-HGK, and R622H-JGK. The type number is located on a white label attached to the spring case chimney or on the box label. Regulators marked with a "D" near the inlet fitting are not part of this recall.
The hazard exists because the diaphragm in these regulators can pull inward into the casing, causing gas to leak. This leak poses a fire or explosion hazard to consumers. FCI has received one report involving a fire in a tobacco barn associated with the recalled product.
Consumers who had an LP-gas system installed with a recalled regulator should immediately contact the company that provides their LP-gas services to determine if they should receive a replacement regulator installed free of charge. Dealers that purchased and installed the recalled regulators have been notified directly and instructed to replace the units. Consumers who have not been contacted directly and wish to determine if they have a recalled gas regulator should call their gas supplier directly. For additional information, consumers can contact Fisher Controls International toll-free at (888) 237-1751 between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. CT Monday through Friday, or visit the firm's website at www.fisherregulators.com.
