Plain-English summary
Mastex Industries LLC is recalling about 3,000 Mastex Twin Foot Warmers, model 400, with date code FO4. The recall was issued because a defect in the wiring can cause the foot warmers to overheat, posing a burn hazard to consumers. Mastex has received five reports of the foot warmers overheating, but no injuries have been reported.
The affected foot warmers were sold through specialty and gift catalogs nationwide from September 2006 through October 2006 for about $40. The date code is located on the switch, and the model number is written on the blanket. Model 405 full size foot warmers are not included in this recall.
Because the manufacturer is out of business, a remedy is no longer available. Consumers should stop using these foot warmers immediately and discard or destroy them. Consumers can call the CPSC hotline at 800-638-2772 for more information.
