The recall is being issued because the safety cutoff can fail to function, allowing the heater to rapidly overheat, which poses a fire hazard. Seabreeze has received one report of a unit overheating and catching fire when turned on, leaving scorch marks on a wall. No injuries have been reported.

The affected units were sold in the United States and Canada from August 2015 through May 2017 for between $60 and $65. They were sold at Ace Hardware, Amazon, HomeDepot.com, Wayfair, Sharper Image, Brookstone, and Air, Water and Inc. in store and online. Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled bathroom heaters and contact Seabreeze International for a full refund.
