Plain-English summary
Seabreeze International Corp. is recalling approximately 2,100 Smart Thermaflo Bathroom Heater Fans with nightlight, model SF14TA. The recall involves units manufactured in 2015 and 2016 that have a date code ending in 5 or 6. The fan is a white rectangle about 13 inches wide and 10 inches high with a plastic grill on the front. The label on the bottom or side of the fan displays "Seabreeze International Corporation," SF14TA, and the date code.
The recall is being issued because the safety cutoff can fail to function, allowing the heater to rapidly overheat, which poses a fire hazard. Seabreeze has received one report of a unit overheating and catching fire when turned on, leaving scorch marks on a wall. No injuries have been reported.
The affected units were sold in the United States and Canada from August 2015 through May 2017 for between $60 and $65. They were sold at Ace Hardware, Amazon, HomeDepot.com, Wayfair, Sharper Image, Brookstone, and Air, Water and Inc. in store and online. Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled bathroom heaters and contact Seabreeze International for a full refund.
