Jazwares Recalls Link-N-Lite Magnetic Puzzles Due to Swallowing Hazard

Jazwares is recalling Link-N-Lite Magnetic Light-Up Puzzles because loose magnets can be swallowed by children, posing risks of intestinal perforation or blockage.

What this means for you

Real risk of harm even if no illness or injury has been reported yet. Stop using the product and follow the agency's guidance.

Our severity reasoning: The recall involves a risk-of-harm product (magnets) where injury has not yet been reported, fitting the High severity criteria for potential serious harm without confirmed incidents.

Plain-English summary

Jazwares, Inc. is recalling approximately 30,000 Link-N-Lite™ Magnetic Light-Up Puzzles. The recalled products are double-sided plastic magnetic puzzles designed for ages 3 and up, featuring Disney Princesses or Spider-Man & Friends designs. Each puzzle contains nine pieces with four or six magnets per piece and lights up when assembled. The puzzles were sold at Target and Kohl's stores nationwide and on Amazon.com from June 2006 through January 2007 for about $15.

The recall is being issued because small magnets used to connect the puzzle pieces can fall out. If young children swallow or aspirate these magnets, serious injury can occur. Specifically, if more than one magnet is swallowed, they can attract each other and cause intestinal perforation or blockage, which can be fatal. The firm has received reports of nine incidents where magnets became loose from these puzzles, but no injuries have been reported.

Consumers should immediately stop using the puzzles and contact Jazwares for a free replacement toy that does not contain magnets. For additional information, consumers can contact Jazwares Inc. at (800) 370-1827 between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. ET Monday through Friday, or visit www.jazwares.com.
