The recall addresses a manufacturing defect where the seat bracket, to which the seat belt is attached, may have been positioned incorrectly, resulting in a poor weld.
In the event of a tractor rollover, the weight of the operator could cause the defective bracket to break off the seat's pivot plate. The company has not reported any injuries or illnesses associated with this defect.
These tractors were sold by authorized John Deere dealers nationwide from October 2005 through March 2006 for between $17,000 and $28,300. Deere & Co. is directly notifying consumers who purchased an affected tractor. Consumers should contact a John Deere dealer to arrange a free repair.
