QVC Inc. is recalling approximately 180,000 Pro Flying Saucer (Radio Control) toys sold exclusively nationwide from November 2005 through December 2005. The toys, manufactured by Creative Innovations & Sourcing LLC of Pittsfield, Mass., and made in China, are about 13 inches in diameter and come in blue or yellow. The recalled product has the item number M12037 on its packaging.
The recall is due to a fire hazard associated with the battery charger cord sold with the flying saucers. The cord can overcharge, causing the toy to overheat. There have been at least 56 reports of overheating, smoking, melting, and fire, including eight reports of minor damage to furniture, carpeting, or countertops. Additionally, there have been seven reports of minor burns to hands or fingers.
Consumers should stop using the product immediately. QVC will notify all purchasers about the recall and provide a new battery charger cord and a pre-paid mailer to return the recalled cord.
