What this means for you

Real risk of harm even if no illness or injury has been reported yet. Stop using the product and follow the agency's guidance.

Plain-English summary

Wild Planet Toys Inc. is recalling approximately 273,000 Jet Streamers™ Water Blasters Pool Toys. The recall is due to a risk of impalement injury. When partially filled with water, the toy can stand upright on the pool floor with the rigid, narrow end pointed upward.

The company has received one report of an impalement injury involving an 8-year-old girl who landed seat-first onto a Jet Streamer left in a swimming pool, resulting in a puncture wound. The toys were sold as 2-pack sets, often bundled with other pool toys or swim trunks, for between $6 and $13. They were sold at Target, Kohl's, internet retailers, discount department stores, and toy stores nationwide from February 2003 through August 2006.

Consumers should immediately stop using the Jet Streamers and contact Wild Planet Toys for a replacement product. The replacement features an angled handle that prevents the toy from standing upright. For more information, customers can call (800) 247-6570 between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. PT Monday through Friday, visit www.wildplanet.com/jetstreamers, or email [email protected].
