Syratech Recalls Decorative Lawn Sprinklers Due to Cracking Hazard
Syratech is recalling approximately 10,000 Elements decorative lawn sprinklers because the plastic bodies can crack under pressure, projecting pieces into the air.
What this means for you
Real risk of harm even if no illness or injury has been reported yet. Stop using the product and follow the agency's guidance.
Our severity reasoning: The recall involves a risk-of-harm product where the plastic body can crack and project pieces, but the source explicitly states there are no reports of injuries, fitting the High severity criteria for unreported injury risks.
Plain-English summary
Syratech Corporation is recalling approximately 10,000 Elements® decorative lawn sprinklers. The recalled products are plastic sprinklers mounted on wheels in the shape of a green frog, blue fish, or yellow duck. They were sold under model numbers 4005059 (Duck), 4005060 (Frog), and 4005061 (Fish) at discount retailers nationwide from March 2006 through August 2006 for between $15 and $30.
The plastic body of the sprinkler can crack when placed under intense water pressure. When this happens, pieces of the decorative covering can break off and be projected 5 to 10 feet in the air, posing a risk of injury to consumers and bystanders. Syratech has received two reports of the sprinklers cracking and projecting pieces, but the company has no reports of injuries.
Consumers should stop using these sprinklers immediately and return them to Syratech Corp. for a full refund. For additional information, consumers can contact Syratech at (800) 471-3986 between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. ET Monday through Friday, or by e-mail at [email protected].
