The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) is recalling Hampton Bay® Transitional Collection Fire Truck and Bulldozer Accent Lamps with Night Lights. The recall involves approximately 9,500 units manufactured by Emess Design Group LLC and sold exclusively at The Home Depot stores nationwide from January 2006 through June 2006 for about $40. The lamps feature a red toy fire truck or yellow toy bulldozer base on a hand-painted wood base and have glass windows that can become dislodged, fall, and shatter into small pieces.
This defect poses a laceration hazard and a serious risk of injury if the glass is ingested by a small child. Emess Design Group has received one report of the glass window breaking in a store, but no injuries have been reported. The recalled lamps are identified by SKU No. 167-367 (fire truck) or SKU No. 167-939 (bulldozer) printed on the bottom of the base, and "Made in China" is also printed on the bottom.
