Colorado Custom Hardware (CCH) Inc. is recalling approximately 4,100 camming anchors, also known as "Alien Cams," used in mountain climbing. These devices are inserted into rock cracks to grip the sides and either stop a climber during a fall or support the climber's weight. The recall is due to a hazard where the cables supporting the climbers can fail, resulting in a fall.

CCH Inc. has received one report of an anchor cable failing a climber during use. The recalled units were sold at climbing stores nationwide and through web retailers from November 2004 through December 2005 for between $50 and $60. Affected units are marked with a small center punch dimple at the base of the round ball where the axle goes through the cable eye and have production dates ranging from November 2004 (1104) to December 2005 (1205) on the bottom of the handle puller.
