The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) is recalling approximately 2,100 units of the Krups Orchestro Espresso Makers. The affected models are 889-45 and 890-41, manufactured by Eugster/Frismag of Switzerland and imported by Krups of Medford, Massachusetts. These black and silver machines feature a silver control panel and are capable of making two cups of espresso at once.
The recall is due to a fire hazard caused by electrical connectors in the espresso machines that can erode. The CPSC has not reported any injuries or illnesses associated with this defect. The recalled products were sold at department stores and independent specialty stores nationwide from January 1999 through November 2005 for approximately $850.
