The recall involves model numbers 324MAG, 325MAG, 423MAG, and 424MAG with specific serial number ranges. The model and serial numbers are located on a label on the top of the saws. Units marked with a "T" at the location shown in the recall notice have been inspected and are not affected.

The lower guard on these saws could stick in the open position, posing a risk of severe lacerations to consumers. No injuries have been reported in connection with this defect.

The affected saws were sold at major home center and hardware stores nationwide from March 2004 through November 2005 for between $130 and $160, depending on the model. Consumers should stop using the circular saws immediately and contact Porter-Cable toll-free at (800) 949-7930 between 8 a.m. and 6 p.m. CT Monday through Friday, or visit www.porter-cable.com, to locate the nearest service center for a free inspection and repair, if necessary.
