These sprayers feature a clear or black hose, an aluminum spray lance, and a white body with "SHURflo" and "Pro Pack" printed on a front label. The model number and manufacture date are located on a label affixed to the motor bracket, which is accessible by removing the battery pack.

The recall is being issued because the power plug can corrode after extensive exposure to water and corrosive chemicals. This corrosion poses a fire hazard to consumers. The manufacturer has received three reports of power plug failures and one report of a minor fire. No injuries have been reported in connection with this recall.

The affected sprayers were sold nationwide from July 2003 through August 2004 through pest control, turf care, sanitary maintenance, and tool and equipment distributors for between $170 and $215. Consumers should stop using the backpack sprayers immediately and contact SHURflo to receive a free repair kit.
