The recalled products are natural colored, made of 100 percent cotton Chenille, and were sold in twin, full, queen, king, and California king sizes. These mattress pads fail to meet the federal mandatory standard for flammability under the Flammable Fabrics Act.

The hazard associated with these products is a serious risk of burn injury or death if they are exposed to smoldering or burning cigarettes. No injuries have been reported in connection with this recall. The mattress pads were manufactured in India and sold nationwide through web and catalog retailers, including The Vermont Country Store, Garnet Hill Inc, GAIAM Inc, and The Company Store, from December 2003 through March 2004 for between $50 and $100.

Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled mattress pads. To obtain a refund plus the cost of shipping, consumers should contact Chris Arlotta Enterprises Ltd. at (888) 779-0711 between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. ET Monday through Friday, or contact the retailer where the product was purchased.
