The recalled hair dryers feature a pistol grip, a black or red and black plastic casing, and a two-prong power cord. Labels on the units read in part "Light Distribution" or "Windsor" and "110V/60HZ," with the model name and number also printed on the label.

The recall is being issued because the hair dryers lack an immersion protection device or ground fault circuit interrupter (GFCI) on the power cord. This design deficiency poses a serious electrocution hazard if the unit is dropped in water. A voluntary standard implemented in 1991 required consumer hair dryers to protect against electrocution in both the "on" and "off" positions, which these units do not meet. No injuries have been reported in connection with this recall.

Consumers should stop using these hair dryers immediately. To obtain a free replacement unit, customers should return the recalled unit to Light Distribution Inc. or contact the company toll-free at (877) 418-1881 between 8 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. ET, Monday through Friday.
