Plain-English summary
Basler Electric Co. and Lutron Electronics are recalling approximately 3,000 12-volt DC power supply units. These units were sold as accessory power supply devices for Lutron wall stations and control interfaces, including some Grafik Eye 3000 lighting control systems. The power supplies are black plastic with "Basler Electric" and model number "BE29736001" imprinted on the plug side, and a blue and white Lutron label with the number "GRX-12VDC" on the opposite side. Lutron's Grafik Eye 3000 lighting system itself is not part of the recall.
The recalled power supplies pose a fire hazard because they can overheat if overloaded. Basler has received two reports of the power supply case overheating and melting, though no injuries have been reported. These units were sold by Lutron to electrical distributors and contractors for use with lighting systems from January 1999 through March 2004. The systems were professionally installed in indoor commercial and residential settings for lighting and dimmer control applications.
Consumers should contact Lutron Electronics to receive a free replacement power supply unit. Lutron can be contacted at (800) 523-9466 anytime, or by sending an e-mail to [email protected].
