Plain-English summary
DK Publishing Inc. is recalling approximately 214,000 children's board books with sound makers. The recalled books were sold under eight titles: Dinosaurs, Emergency!, Kitty's Adventure, On The Road, Puppy's Busy Day, Tractors, Trains, and Trucks. These heavy cardboard books feature a raised sound button on the last page and were sold nationwide from March 2001 through April 2004 for about $8 each.
The recall was issued because the sound maker mounted inside a plastic covering on the last page poses a choking hazard to young children if removed. DK Publishing has received one report of a 22-month-old child detaching the sound maker and putting it in his mouth; the child was not injured.
Consumers should take these books away from young children immediately. To receive a replacement book of equal value or a refund, consumers should contact DK Publishing at (800) 505-4726 or email [email protected].
