Nikko America Inc. is recalling approximately 287,000 radio-control toy trucks sold at major toy and discount department stores nationwide from July 2003 through February 2004. The recalled models are 1/10 scale replicas of the Chevy Avalanche, Jeep Wrangler Rubicon, Hummer Wagon, and Ford F150, manufactured between April 2003 and January 2004. Model numbers are located on the body of the truck alongside the vehicle make and model names.

The recall was initiated because a problem with the circuit board causes the toy trucks to overheat, creating a fire and burn hazard. Nikko America has received five reports of the trucks overheating, which resulted in minor property damage caused by fire and smoke. No injuries have been reported.

Consumers should stop using the toy trucks immediately and contact Nikko America toll-free at (800) 736-4556 between 8:30 a.m. and 5:30 p.m. CT, Monday through Friday, for instructions on returning the product for a free circuit board replacement.
