Kindermusik International is recalling approximately 32,000 Fiddlesticks instruments. These are wooden rhythm instruments designed for use in Kindermusik classrooms and at home. The instruments are 7 inches long, 1 inch in diameter, and hollowed out in the middle with steel balls inserted to create a shaker sound. The ends are capped with wooden plugs.
The recall was issued because some of the Fiddlesticks have caps that can become loose, allowing the ball bearings inside to spill out. Both the caps and the ball bearings pose a potential choking hazard to young children. No injuries have been reported in connection with this recall.
The Fiddlesticks were sold as part of a music instructional kit by Kindermusik educators in the United States and Canada from December 2002 through January 2003. Consumers should stop using the Fiddlesticks immediately and return them to their Kindermusik educator for a free replacement. Kindermusik will replace the product with either re-designed Fiddlesticks or an instrument of comparable value.
