Plain-English summary
BRIO Corporation, a subsidiary of BRIO AB of Sweden, is recalling approximately 3,000 pull-along snail toys. The recalled toys are bright green, yellow, and red wooden figures measuring 10 inches long and 4 inches high, featuring a nylon string for pulling. The hazard involves two yellow protruding pegs on the snail's head, painted to look like eyeballs, which can detach and pose a choking hazard to young children.
The toys were sold nationwide through specialty toy stores, Internet retailers, and mail order catalogs from June 2001 through June 2002 for about $15. Small World Toys of Culver City, Calif., distributed the products. BRIO, Small World Toys, and the CPSC are not aware of any incidents or injuries involving the pull toy; the recall is being conducted to prevent the possibility of injury.
Consumers should take these pull toys away from children immediately and call BRIO for a refund. The toys can be returned to BRIO Corp. at the address provided in the official notice. For more information, consumers can contact BRIO at (888) 274-6869 between 8:30 a.m. and 5 p.m. CT Monday through Friday.
