The recall is due to a safety hazard where a plastic abacus-like toy attached to the back cover contains five small plastic beads that can separate from the book, posing a choking risk to young children.

The recalled books are twelve-page white board books measuring 6.5 inches by 6.5 inches, featuring the Zowie character from the Rolie, Polie, Olie television series. The specific hazard involves the five colored beads (blue, green, red, yellow, and orange) sliding along a plastic track on the back cover. Disney Press has received one report of a 15-month-old boy who broke a bead from the cover and placed it in his mouth; an adult successfully removed the bead without injury.

These books were sold at bookstores nationwide from January 2002 through February 2002 for approximately $7. Consumers should immediately remove the books from the reach of young children and return them to Disney Press for a full refund and postage.
