Arusa International Recalls Children's Bathrobes Due to Flammability Risk

Arusa International is recalling children's bathrobes sold as Lollypop, Bath Magic, and Color Block because they fail flammability standards and pose a burn risk.

What this means for you

Real risk of harm even if no illness or injury has been reported yet. Stop using the product and follow the agency's guidance.

Our severity reasoning: The recall involves a risk-of-harm product (burn injury from flammability) where no injuries have been reported, which aligns with the High severity criteria.

Plain-English summary

Arusa International, of New York, N.Y., is recalling children's bathrobes sold under the brand names Lollypop, Bath Magic, and Color Block. The recalled robes are made of 100 percent cotton terry cloth. Lollypop and Color Block robes are available in sizes 0/2, 4/6, 8/10, and 12. Bath Magic robes are available in sizes 1, 2/3, 4/6, 7/9, 10/12, and 13/15.

The recall is being issued because the bathrobes fail to meet the Standard for the Flammability of Children's Sleepwear. This defect poses a risk of burn injury to children due to the possible ignition of the garment. No injuries have been reported.

The bathrobes were sold by the website www.bathrobesonline.com from October 1999 through December 2000 for between $17 and $23. Approximately 1,175 units were distributed. Consumers should stop their children from wearing the bathrobes immediately and return them to Arusa International at 261 Fifth Avenue, Suite 1905, New York, NY 10016 for a refund, which includes the cost of the robe, shipping, handling, and return shipment. For more information, consumers can call Arusa International at (866) 289-7623 between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. ET Monday through Friday, or email Customer Service at [email protected].
