Kolcraft LiteSport Strollers Recalled Due to Lock Mechanism Failure

Kolcraft Enterprises, Inc. is recalling approximately 115,000 Kolcraft LiteSport strollers, model number 36122. The recall is due to a defect in the lock mechanisms located on both sides of the stroller. These mechanisms can break, causing the stroller to suddenly collapse. When this happens, babies can fall and suffer injuries.
Kolcraft has received 124 reports of the lock mechanisms breaking, including 31 reports of the stroller collapsing. There were 22 reports of injuries, including abrasions, cuts, and bruises to children's faces, arms, hands, and legs. The strollers were manufactured from December 1997 through December 1999 and sold at department and juvenile products stores nationwide from December 1997 through December 2000 for about $30.
Consumers should stop using the strollers immediately. To receive a free repair kit, consumers should call Kolcraft toll-free at (800) 922-2130 anytime. The model number can be found on a label on the back leg frame of the stroller, and the word "LiteSport" is on the front of the footrest.
