Plain-English summary

Milwaukee Electric Tool Corp. is recalling approximately 6,000 electric wrenches sold nationwide from March 2001 to July 2001. The recalled impact wrenches are shaped like drills with a red handle and red and gray body, featuring the name "Milwaukee" printed on the tool. The specific models and serial numbers affected are 9070-20 (serials 229A401010001 through 229A401250722), 9071-20 (serials 239A401010001 through 239A401250404), and 9075-20 (serials 230A401010001 through 230A401260104).

The recall is being conducted because the wrenches have power cords that can release from the handle, which poses an injury or electrocution hazard to consumers. Milwaukee and the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) have not received any reports of incidents, but the recall is intended to prevent the possibility of injuries.

Consumers should stop using these electric wrenches immediately and return them to the nearest Milwaukee Factory Service Center or authorized power tool service center for a free repair. Wrenches that have an "X" stamped or etched on the nameplate next to the serial number have already been repaired. Consumers can call Milwaukee toll-free at (866) 473-2288 between 8 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. CT Monday through Friday for more information.
