The affected bicycles are men's and women's 26-inch, 18-speed models with model numbers 8546-84 (women's) and 8547-19 (men's), manufactured between December 1999 and May 2000. These bicycles were sold at Toys R Us stores nationwide from January 2000 through mid-April 2001 for approximately $69.
The recall is being issued because the pedals on these bicycles can loosen and fall off while riding. Dynacraft and the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) have received 31 reports of pedals falling off, causing riders to fall. Reported injuries include a concussion, broken bones, sprains, abrasions, a laceration, and muscle strain.
Consumers should stop using these bicycles immediately.
