Cosco Inc. and Safety 1st are recalling approximately 171,000 Bungee Baby Jumpers and 100,600 baby wipe warmers. The Bungee Baby Jumpers, sold from May 1996 through March 2001, allow a baby to bounce while suspended from a doorway. Metal clasps on these units can detach from the bungee cord, causing the unit to fall to the floor. Cosco has received 82 reports of the jumper falling, resulting in 15 babies suffering bumps, bruises, and scratches, primarily to the head.
The Safety 1st Wipe Warmers, sold from December 1999 through March 2001, are electric appliances that warm baby wipes. Cracks in the interior basin of these units can allow moisture to contact electrical components, posing a risk of electrical shock to consumers touching the wipes. Safety 1st has received 17 reports of the interior basin cracking, though no injuries or shocks have been reported.
Consumers should stop using the Bungee Baby Jumpers immediately and discard or destroy the products, as the repair kit is no longer available and a cash incentive is being offered. Consumers should unplug and stop using the Wipe Warmers immediately and contact Safety 1st to receive a free liner for the interior basin that will prevent cracking.
