The recall is due to a defect where the fuel hose on the carburetor can become dislodged, causing fuel to leak. This presents fire and burn hazards to users. STIHL has received four reports of fuel hoses dislodging, but no injuries have been reported.
The affected backpack blowers were sold through STIHL dealers in California between November 2000 and January 2001. Consumers should stop using the product immediately and return it to the STIHL dealer where it was purchased for a free repair.
