The recalled chain saws were sold nationwide by Stihl dealers from August 2002 through March 2003 for between $350 and $430. The affected units have serial numbers ranging from 255923345 through 260340097. The model number is printed on the starter housing, and the serial number is inscribed on the surface of the housing next to and above the bumper spikes.
No injuries or illnesses have been reported in connection with this recall. Consumers should stop using the recalled chain saws immediately. Authorized Stihl dealers will replace all fuel tank vents at no cost.
