The hazard is that the cabinets have push button locks that can be opened without the use of a key. This defect allows unauthorized access to firearms. Stack-On Products has received two reports of consumers being able to open the locks without using their keys. No injuries have been reported.

The cabinets were sold nationwide from May 2000 through September 2000. Stack-On brand cabinets were sold at outdoor and sporting goods stores, while Sentinel brand cabinets were sold exclusively at Wal-Mart Stores, Inc. The cabinets sold for between $240 and $300.
