The U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) issued a public health alert for fully cooked summer sausage products produced by Paradise Locker Meats. The alert was issued because the products may be contaminated with extraneous materials, specifically clear plastic. The affected products are 1-lb. chubs of “JET HIGH PRAIRIE MEATS SUMMER SAUSAGE” and “FANTASMA’S finest SUMMER SAUSAGE,” both with lot code 220715. These items bear establishment number EST. 31865 and were produced on July 13, 2022. The products were shipped to retail locations in Kansas and Missouri, as well as to additional locations through online sales.
The issue was identified after the firm received a customer complaint reporting clear plastic embedded in multiple packages. There have been no confirmed reports of adverse reactions from consuming these products. Consumers who have these products in their refrigerators or freezers are urged not to consume them and should throw them away or return them to the place of purchase.
