Plain-English summary

The U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) has issued a public health alert for specific packages of frozen Wild Fork Porcini Mushroom Risotto Bites. The alert was issued because the products are misbranded and contain an undeclared allergen. While labeled as porcini mushroom risotto bites, the packages may actually contain hot dogs in puff pastry, which include sesame. Sesame is a known allergen that is not declared on the product label.

The affected products are 7.5-oz. cardboard packages with lot code 101231 (Best By Date: 10/11/2024) or lot code 361231 (Best By Date: 6/27/2025). These items bear establishment numbers EST. 39896 or EST. 32068 on the side of the box and do not have a USDA mark of inspection. The products were produced on April 11, 2023, and December 27, 2023, and were shipped to retail locations in California, Florida, Illinois, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, Texas, and Wisconsin.

The issue was identified after a consumer complaint reported finding hot dogs in puff pastry in a package labeled as mushroom risotto bites. The firm notified the FDA, which then alerted FSIS. No confirmed reports of adverse reactions have been received. Consumers who have purchased these products are urged not to consume them, particularly those with a sesame allergy. The products should be thrown away or returned to the place of purchase.
