The recall was requested by the USDA Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) because the product is linked to a specific illness cluster. Epidemiologic investigations identified six case-patients in Minnesota with illness onset dates ranging from August 17 to September 27, 2014. One of these patients was hospitalized, and no deaths have been reported. Samples of the product tested positive for the outbreak strain of Salmonella Enteritidis.
