FSIS collected unopened RTE Coppa product during the investigation that tested positive for Salmonella, though that specific product was not released into commerce. Further investigation determined that the recalled product may be under processed. FSIS is concerned that some product may still be in retailers’ and consumers’ refrigerators.
Consumers who have purchased these products are urged not to consume them. The products should be thrown away or returned to the place of purchase. Individuals concerned about an illness should contact a healthcare provider. Consumption of food contaminated with Salmonella can cause salmonellosis, with symptoms including diarrhea, abdominal cramps, and fever.
