2021-2022 Ford Bronco hardtop roof panels may separate and detach

Certain 2021-2022 Ford Bronco vehicles with Molded-In-Color hardtop roofs may have roof panels that separate or detach while driving, creating a crash hazard.

What this means for you

Illness, injury, or structural failure has been reported. Stop using the product immediately and contact the manufacturer for a refund or repair.

Our severity reasoning: This recall involves a structural vehicle defect (roof panel separation and detachment) that creates a direct crash hazard. Although no injuries have been reported, the nature of the defect poses serious injury risk from a detached roof section while driving.

Plain-English summary

Ford Motor Company is recalling certain 2021-2022 Ford Bronco vehicles equipped with Molded-In-Color (MIC) hardtop roof panels. The hardtop roof panels may have been manufactured improperly, allowing sections of the outer roof panel to separate and detach from the vehicle.

A detached roof panel section while driving creates a road hazard and increases the risk of a crash. This defect affects the structural integrity of the roof system.

Approximately 16,200 vehicles are affected by this recall. Ford began notifying owners by letter on May 28, 2026. Dealers will inspect and replace the hardtop roof panels at no cost. Additional notification letters will be sent once replacement parts become available, expected in November 2026. Owners should contact Ford customer service at 1-866-436-7332 for more information.
