Hyundai Palisade third-row curtain air bags may deploy improperly in crash

Hyundai is recalling certain 2020-2025 Palisade vehicles because the side curtain air bags for third-row occupants may deploy improperly in a crash. This fails FMVSS 226.

What this means for you

Illness, injury, or structural failure has been reported. Stop using the product immediately and contact the manufacturer for a refund or repair.

Our severity reasoning: Rubric level 4 covers structural vehicle defects: the curtain air bag is the occupant-protection system relied on to prevent ejection, and the source states it may not deploy properly.

Plain-English summary

Hyundai Motor America is recalling certain 2020-2025 Palisade vehicles. About 568,576 units are potentially affected.

The side curtain air bags for third-row occupants may deploy improperly in a crash. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 226, "Ejection Mitigation".
