2025 Ford Escape recalled for engine block heater overheat fire risk

Ford notified owners of the safety risk with interim letters mailed on June 11, 2025. A second notice will be sent once the remedy is available. Owners will have two options: dealers can replace the block heater element and inspect the electrical cord (replacing if necessary) free of charge, or owners can choose to have the block heater element replaced with a threaded blanking plug and have the heater cord removed.
