Chrysler is recalling certain Ram 2500 and 3500 vehicles with a 3.5 inch cluster and column shifter because a software error may make the gear selection display inaccurate.

What this means for you

Our severity reasoning: Risk-of-harm defect where the displayed gear may be wrong, with no death or injury reported in the NHTSA record.

Plain-English summary

Chrysler (FCA US, LLC) is recalling certain Ram 2500 and Ram 3500 vehicles equipped with a 3.5 inch cluster and column shifter, under NHTSA campaign number 25V297000. The potential number of units affected is 778.

A software error may cause the gear selection display to be inaccurate. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 101, "Controls and Displays." According to NHTSA, an inaccurate gear selection display may mislead the driver as to what gear is actually selected, leading to unexpected vehicle movement and increasing the risk of a crash.

Dealers will update the cluster software free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed May 22, 2025.
